Estimation of energy expenditure of Nordic walking: a crossover trial

چکیده
Abstract Background Nordic walking (NW) requires more energy compared with conventional (W). However, the metabolic equation for NW has not been reported. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize responses in oxygen uptake, minute ventilation, heart rate, systolic blood pressure, and surface electromyography of upper lower limb muscles during W develop a expenditure ( E , mL·kg − 1 ·min ) NW. Methods This was performed randomized, controlled, crossover design test W. Fifteen healthy young men were enrolled (aged 23.7 ± 3.0 years). All participants two randomly ordered tests (NW W) on treadmill at predetermined stepwise incremental speed (3–5 km·h grade (0–7%). The signals three their right body recorded between using paired-t test. Multiple linear regression analysis used draw estimation Results Oxygen uptake (+ 15.8%), ventilation 17.0%), rate 8.4%), pressure 7.7%) higher than P < .05). resulted increased muscle activity all In limb, activities only level Energy estimated as follows: = 6.1 + 0.09 × 1.19 4.4 1.20 grade. Conclusion showed work intensity W, an consumption difference 1.7 . coefficients different methods. involved

My advisor made some changes to my research paper. Since it will be posted on OPENSIUC, he wanted to make some technical changes to the paper. I have already gotten this paper accepted, and the changes on this paper are minor, but necessary. iv ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS A great amount of appreciation is given to the educators in the Kinesiology graduate school departments. متن کاملCaffeine Intake, Short Bouts of Physical Activity, and Energy Expenditure: A Double-Blind Randomized Crossover Trial
UNLABELLED PA energy expenditure (PAEE) is the most variable component of Total Energy Expenditure (TEE) and largely due to the balance of sedentary time (SedT) and low intensity physical activity (LIPA). There has been an emergence for seeking an understanding of factors which determine variations in SedT, LIPA, and PAEE. Sedentary behavior and physical activity are relatively resistant to cha...
متن کاملEnergy expenditure during submaximal walking with Exerstriders.
This study was designed to determine whether Exerstriding, a modified form of walking using walking sticks (Exerstriders), resulted in an augmented cardiorespiratory response and a greater energy expenditure than when walking without Exerstriders. Female subjects (23.6 +/- 4.0 yr; 58.5 +/- 5.5 kg) completed two randomly assigned trials of treadmill walking (6.7 km.h-1; 0% grade; 30 min.) with (...
متن کاملEnergy Expenditure Estimation DEMO Application
The paper presents two prototypes for the estimation of human energy expenditure during normal daily activities and exercise. The first prototype employs two dedicated inertial sensors attached to the user’s chest and thigh and a heart rate monitor. The second prototype uses only the accelerometer embedded in a smart phone carried in the user’s pocket. Both systems use machine learning for the ...
